| Adult Partial Hospital |

|
The Four Winds Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive, medically supervised outpatient treatment program for adults 18 years of age and older.
The PHP operates 5 days a week from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The PHP can be an appropriate alternative to inpatient treatment, but can also be a benefit to patients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient care. The program is especially suited to individuals who may be in acute distress with symptoms of depression or psychosis, and who may exhibit disorganized or self-destructive behaviors. Adults who need a brief, comprehensive reassessment of their outpatient treatment, and/or who are in need of increased structure and support including a possible change in their medication regimen, will find this program beneficial. Substance abuse issues are also addressed in this program. |

Treatment
Staffed by a multi-disciplinary treatment team, the program utilizes a cognitive behavioral and psycho-educational approach. Central to the treatment is the development of coping skills to manage symptoms of the patient's illness and the stressors of every day life.
Working closely with family/significant others is an important part of the program. Therapists meet with the family on a regular basis, addressing significant issues, including medications. Clinical staff are available 24 hours a day for consultation with the patient and family in a crisis situation.
The program provides individual case management, group and family psychotherapy, medication education and therapeutic activities. Specialized tracks for substance abuse, eating disorders and psychological trauma and abuse are built into the treatment.
Admissions
The Four Winds Partial Hospital Program accepts referrals Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Most third party payors cover treatment for the Partial Hospital Program, and Four Winds is a provider for major managed care networks as well as Blue Cross and other commercial insurance plans. Medicare and New York State Medicaid are accepted. The referring therapist is invited to participate in the treatment planning of all patients, facilitating optimum care. Discharge planning is initiated at the time of admission and continues through the course of the treatment.
