IOP provides an opportunity for more intensive treatment than can be provided in a traditional outpatient setting. Adults who need a brief, comprehensive reassessment of their outpatient treatment, including a possible change in their medication regimen will find this program beneficial.
Treatment
Staffed by a multi-disciplinary treatment team, these programs utilize a cognitive behavioral and psycho-educational approach. Central to the treatment is the development of coping skills to manage psychiatric symptoms and the stressors of every day life.
Working closely with family/significant others is an important part of both programs. Therapists meet with the family on a regular basis, addressing significant issues, including medications. Clinical staff is available 24 hours a day for consultation with the patient and family in a crisis situation.
The programs provide group, individual, and family psychotherapy, individual case management and medication education. There is a focus on individualized treatment to meet the unique needs of each person entering the program.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a Cognitive Behavioral approach utilized by the PHP and IOP programs which demonstrates a significant reduction in self-destructive coping behaviors and suicide attempts. People focus on developing more adaptive methods of coping, concentrating on reduction of “Crisis Driven Behaviors”. Those who exhibit emotional dysregulation or self-destructive behaviors, with concurrent diagnoses such as: depression, anxiety disorders, borderline personality disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and self injurious behaviors are ideal candidates for this treatment approach.

“I was taught the DBT skills in an effective way by the Four Winds staff. It took me about a year after that to fully “recover”, but I feel better now than I ever have.”
“I just wanted to formally say “Thank You” for everything you have done for me while I was in the program. Your groups are always fun and engaging. I always looked forward to them. You have challenged me in many ways. I was sad to leave, but excited to really utilize my skills.”
“I have met so many amazing people while I came to the PHP program here at Four Winds. I don’t think one day would go by where I didn’t learn something new or that someone didn’t inspire something new in me. The people here are truly amazing, some of the bravest, and most remarkable people I have ever had the pleasure to spend time with. The whole experience was very eye opening, and I have truly enjoyed coming here.”
