Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist

HIM Specialist (Full time – 37.5hrs/week)

We have an opening for a HIM Specialist whose primary tasks include, but are not limited to,

  • Responding to requests for patient information, attorneys, court orders, or other high level requests
  • Assist with maintaining the HIM Manual
  • Perform quality chart reviews, live chart audits, take part in unit rounding to ensure compliance with the standards of the hospital, HIPAA, Joint Commission, OMH, and other regulatory bodies.
  • HIM Specialist be back up support for incident reporting, meeting coverage, regulatory reporting and access through NIMRS, MHPD, HBIPS, Quality Net, SAFE Act, and PERDS. 
  • Must have an Associate’s Degree or higher.
  • Health Information Management or medical office experience required. 
  • Completed HIM degree or currently enrolled in a HIM program will be prioritized.
  • Typing, basic math, excellent customer service, communication, organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Access) required.
  • Job duties may require bending, lifting, stooping, pulling, pushing up to 20-25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines is preferred.

The hourly pay range is $20.00/hr - $22.00/hr.
