Barriers to Wellness: A discussion on the different factors and circumstances that could impact someone’s ability to achieve wellness, and how to combat these things with healthy coping skills.

Boundaries: Education regarding different types of boundaries related to self and others.

Cognitive Restructuring: Learn to change old thought patterns by changing focus.

Experiential Mindfulness: Learn to practice in vivo mindfulness skills.

Expressive Arts: Non verbal expression through various creative modalities.

Incorporating Values in Recovery: Group members are encouraged to identify values that are important to them and explore how to apply values to help address a concern of theirs. Discussion also focuses on exploring why it may be difficult to practice some values than others.

Life Transitions: Discusses the implications of life’s transitions, and to best handle them in a healthy way.

Managing Avoidance: Increases awareness on avoidant behaviors, why people avoid and why it is maladaptive. Groups will learn coping strategies to help navigate avoidant tendencies and why they personally avoid and what can be done to help elevate avoidant behaviors.

Managing Destructive Habits: Patients are encouraged to identify their own destructive habits. Participants receive psycho-education and feedback on strategies for managing them.

Motivation for Change: Discusses the 5 stages of change in addiction/unhealthy coping mechanisms. Patients were able to discuss their unhealthy coping skill, and discuss how to replace them with healthy ones.

Radical Acceptance: Learn concepts of radical acceptance, turning the mind, willingness and willfulness.

Self Compassion: Learning how to be kind to oneself moment to moment.

Weekend Planning and Assignments: Emphasizes the important of structure through the weekend, and any “down” time in the future. Patients are encouraged to identify coping skills they would like to learn and then are encouraged to practice them through-out the weekend with various assignments.
